Dallas Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki feels the love at the Cowboys opener

Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki was in attendance for the Dallas Cowboys’ season opener on Sept. 8 and fans showed him plenty of support.

Dallas Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki is enjoying his retirement. He has been traveling, doing charity work, and indulging with food that was not allowed during his playing days.

Nowitzki is back in the DFW now. He showed up to support the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener against the New York Giants on Sunday. The trip included a seat in the luxury box and a tribute video from the Cowboys which Mavs fans can see below.

Dirk received a massive ovation which was well-deserved. It was great to see him out supporting the Cowboys. Nowitzki shared a thank you to the Cowboys on Twitter after the game. Dallas started their season with a dominating 35-17 victory over the Giants.

Nowitzki had a massive week

It was a giant week for Dirk. It started in China as he was an ambassador at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Nowitzki returned home to the media barrage that was waiting for Ezekiel Elliot and shared a funny tweet. He also announced the date for his annual tennis tournament and wrapped it up with the Cowboys game. Dirk is staying busy in retirement.

The news also broke that the Dallas Mavericks will be honoring Dirk Nowitzki by putting him on the court this season. A silhouette of the legend shooting his patented one-legged fadeaway will be on both ends of the floor. It was a fantastic touch by the Mavs to pay tribute to their GOAT.

Fans should expect that to be the first of many ways the organization honors Dirk this season and beyond. Mark Cuban promised a statue and a jersey retirement, but expect the Mavericks to do plenty more as well.
