Dallas Mavericks big man Maxi Kleber found his footing at the 2019 FIBA World Cup against Jordan on Thursday. He had 18 points, and Germany got their first win of the tournament. It had been a disappointing start for both Kleber and the team before that contest.
They were back for another game on Sept. 7. Germany played Senegal as part of Group P. Here is how the game shook out.
German victory
Germany had a strong second half on Saturday to pick up an 89-78 victory over Senegal. Dennis Schroder led the way with 24 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds. Daniel Theis also had 14 points.
Maxi Kleber got it going early with six first quarter points. Here is a highlight dunk from the Mavericks forward.
Kleber finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and two steals in 24.1 minutes. He was five of ten from the field and missed all four of his 3-pointers.
Mavs fans will be monitoring his 3-point shooting this season. Kleber improved to 35.3 percent in his second year. That jumped to 41.0 percent during the 2019 portion of the schedule. Kleber being an elite floor spacer could open the Mavs offense.
