Dallas Mavericks center Boban Marjanovic drew the start for Serbia on Sept. 6 against Puerto Rico. He was a big part of the early game plan in the win.

Dallas Mavericks fans have seen plenty of exciting basketball at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Team USA won its group but faced some stiff competition. The Mavs two players have had some up and down performances.

Boban Marjanovic and Serbia had their first of two second round games on Sept. 6. They faced Puerto Rico. Let us take a closer look at how the game shook out.

Serbia dominates

Serbia came out fast on Friday and never looked back. They did not trail in picking up the 90-47 victory over Puerto Rico. Nikola Jokic led the way for Serbia with 14 points, ten rebounds, and two blocks. Nemanja Bjelica also produced 18 points, six rebounds, and four 3-pointers made.

Boban Marjanovic drew the start on Friday. He took six of the team’s first 12 shots. Bobi made five. He closed the first quarter with ten points and two rebounds as Serbia held a nine-point lead. The 7’3 center also produced this highlight.

Marjanovic finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 16.1 minutes. He was seven of eight from the field as well.

Serbia closes out Group J play against Spain on Sunday. Dallas Mavericks fans can watch the game on ESPN+. The contest is scheduled to tipoff at 7:30 a.m. local time. The winner will top the group in a battle of medal favorites. Marc Gasol and Ricky Rubio lead the way for Spain.

Serbia qualified for the quarterfinals with the victory of Puerto Rico. They will play in the knockout phase on Sept. 10 no matter the result of Sunday’s game.
