Dallas Mavericks point forward, Luka Doncic was quoted saying that he believes the Mavs will be a playoff team this year. Two of the three hosts on ESPN’s ‘The Jump’ agreed with Luka’s assertion.

It is easy for Dallas Mavericks fans to sit around and claim that we expect to make the playoffs next year, but in reality a lot of different scenarios could play out. I think that the Mavs have the talent to compete for the 8th spot in the Western Conference, but it is a crowded group after the top six teams.

Even though it will be a long journey for Dallas, it is good to see the players have some confidence in their team. Earlier this week, Luka Doncic was quoted saying he believes the Mavs will make the playoffs this year. The hosts of ESPN’s ‘The Jump’ found the quote and brought it on to their segment: “BS or Real Talk?”.

Here is what that sounded like. If you want to skip past the weird Chris Paul wishing he was Boban Marjanovic bit, go to 1:55 in the video.

Both Malika Andrews and Nick Friedell say that Luka is spewing some real talk. The race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference is going to be super entertaining and the Mavs should find themselves right in the thick of things as game number 82 gets closer and closer. Of course, this is all just assumption until we get to see the guys on the court.

Rachel Nichols, host of The Jump, was more skeptical about the Mavericks playoff chances, so she called B.S. on the quote. She did make a good point about the fact that there are seven teams that are all likely to make the playoffs, including the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors.

That final playoff spot could be up for grabs against the San Antonio Spurs. It would be pretty sweet to see the Mavs knock the Spurs out of the playoffs for the first time in over two decades, but only time will tell us what exactly happens in the likely wild race that will be the Western Conference standings.
