Dallas Mavericks rookie Isaiah Roby had an amazing block during summer league that fans have to see as part of NBA Block Week.

The Dallas Mavericks had one draft pick in 2019 after trading their first round choice to the Hawks to acquire Luka Doncic. They did a bit more dealing but ended up with Isaiah Roby. He was selected 45th overall out of Nebraska.

The 21-year-old will be part of the Mavericks 15-man roster this season. Roby is a combo forward. He will likely struggle to see minutes in Dallas. The Mavs can send him to the G-League where he should stand out on the Texas Legends.

Mavericks fans got their first glimpse of Roby in their uniform during the Las Vegas Summer League. During that competition, the rookie produced a must-see rejection that was featured on Wednesday as part of NBA Block Week.

Roby played well during his five games in Vegas. He produced 8.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.2 blocks in 27.6 minutes per game. Roby struggled with his shooting hitting just 42.9 percent from the field and 23.1 percent of his 3-pointers. There were plenty more highlights worth checking out, though.

Roby is not going to be a volume scorer. He averaged 11.8 points per game during his junior season at Nebraska. His shooting is a bit questionable too. Roby hit 33.6 percent from 3-point range over 146 attempts during his college career. He also shot just 70.2 percent from the foul line.

Roby is a role player. The 21-year-old can handle the ball a bit. He excels on the defensive end and makes winning plays. Mavericks fans should keep eye on Roby’s development this season. He signed a four-year deal, but only the first two are guaranteed. The rookie will have to prove himself to stick in Dallas.
