Dallas Mavericks: See Delon Wright in his Mavs uniform

Dallas Mavericks point guard Delon Wright rocked his Mavs uniform for the first time on Aug. 13. Fans can see the photos here plus more about his game.

The Dallas Mavericks agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Memphis Grizzlies to acquire Delon Wright. It cost Dallas two second round picks to get the point guard.

The 27-year-old is entering his fifth NBA season. Wright is a proven defender that can handle the ball. He excels at attacking the rim. Wright has a questionable jump shot (33.2 percent for his career on 3-pointers), but his perimeter defense will be a welcomed addition to the Mavs.

Delon Wright was in Dallas on Tuesday. He rocked his Mavericks uniform for the first time, and the team did a photo shoot which fans can see a glimpse of below. Wright will return to wearing number 55 this season. He donned that number during his three and half seasons with the Raptors.

The Mavs official Twitter also showed off three other photos from the shoot.

Wright did not just come for a photo shoot. He did a Twitter Q&A with fans. Wright also joined The Ceiling is the Roof podcast to discuss a plethora of topics and sat down with Eddie Sefko for an article that appeared on Mavs.com. It was a full day, but one that should have Mavericks supporters excited about their new acquisiton.

Wright is a point guard, but he will relinquish lead ball-handling duties to Luka Doncic. He will be asked to guard the other team’s top-scoring backcourt option. Wright will be a secondary creator. His driving ability should open shots for Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, and the rest of the Mavs roster.

Dallas Mavericks fans should be excited to see more from Delon Wright. His 26 games with Memphis last season are intriguing. Wright averaged 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 30.8 minutes per game. Will Coach Carlisle play him over 30 minutes a night? Wright will have to earn those minutes during training camp.
