By Tyler Watts
Dallas Mavericks fans saw plenty of alley-oops during the 2018-2019 season. Here is a look at the top ten including a few outstanding Dwight Powell slams.
The Dallas Mavericks made improvements during the 2018-2019 season. They moved up to secure Luka Doncic in the draft. The rookie helped them go from 24 wins to 33. His presence also gave the Mavs the confidence trade for Kristaps Porzingis and push toward contention.
The new-look Mavericks are hopeful about their future. The team is built around the reigning Rookie of the Year and a 23-year-old former All-Star. Dallas also feels they have plenty of pieces that can enhance their production.
The NBA is celebrating Dunk Week. That means producing videos of the best dunks. The Dallas Mavericks got in on the fun with their top ten alley-oops from last season which supporters can see below.
Dwight Powell’s leaping ability is on full display in that highlight package. His development as a rim rolling lob threat was a massive reason the Mavericks signed him to a three-year $33 million extension this summer. The team is expecting him to take a step forward in the coming year. Powell is penciled in as a starter and should play a career high in minutes next season.
The surprise of the video was the lack of Luka Doncic. The 20-year-old produced plenty of lobs, but only two of them made the reel. Here is another example from the Dec. 5 game against the Pelicans.
