The Dallas Mavericks “Mavs Gaming” E-Sports team is heading to the playoffs. The team was able to grab the 2-seed in the tournament, marking the first time Dallas has made it to the postseason for E-Sports.

Truthfully, I know very little about how the NBA E-Sports division works and what the structure behind it all is, but I do know that the Dallas Mavericks affiliated team “Mavs Gaming” is going to the playoffs and that is something worth celebrating. The Mavs Gaming squad tore it up this year, going 12-4, including a 10-0 start to the season.

The NBA 2K league is something very new and interesting, but these guys really put in a lot of work to be the best team they can be together. The squad is led by point guard, “Dimez”, who averaged 16.7 points and 8.7 assists per game this year. The other player who has been big for the team this year is “PeteBeBallin”, a center averaging 14.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.

The idea behind the NBA 2K League is pretty cool, with each member of the team creating their own player at whatever position they will play and then running these five different guys on the court to create a cohesive unit, but virtually. I personally can’t wrap my head around it, but it is a pretty cool idea that has come together really impressively.

There are 21 teams in the league, all linked with an NBA team of some sort. Even though they do not have any link to the players for the teams, it really was a fantastic idea to get it involved through the NBA in some way.

The Mavs Gaming team will have their first round matchup against the “Celtics Crossover Gaming” team tomorrow, starting at 5:00 central time. They will have a best of three series, with the Mavs team as the home team in games 1 and 3 (if necessary). You can watch the games live on Twitch and YouTube Gaming.

If the Mavs win this series, they will advance to the second round where they will face the winner of the series between “T-Wolves Gaming” and “Kings Guard Gaming”.
