Dallas Mavericks agree to bring back free agent sharpshooter Seth Curry

The Dallas Mavericks agreed to a four-year deal with elite shooter Seth Curry. See how the guard improves the Mavs roster.

Dallas Mavericks fans have a new player to be excited about next season. The Mavs are actually bringing Seth Curry back to Dallas. Marc Stein reported that Curry agreed to a four-year $32 million deal. The signing will not be finalized until July 6.

Mavs fans will remember that he spent two seasons in Dallas. Curry played 29.0 minutes per game in 2016-2017. He averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 42.5 percent on his threes. Curry was a fan favorite too. He was injured and missed his entire second season in Dallas.

Curry signed a one-year $2.79 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers last offseason. Curry proved he was healthy and continued to be an outstanding shooter.

Where Curry helps

Seth Curry will instantly improve the Dallas Mavericks offense. He turns 29 in August. He has played five NBA seasons. Curry has hit 43.9 percent of his 686 3-point attempts during his career.

He will be a fantastic fit next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Doncic will run the show with KP spacing the floor and running pick and rolls. Curry will be a spot-up shooter on the perimeter.

The Mavs newest addition is not a fantastic defender, but he can hold his own on that end. Expect Curry to play mostly at the two.

Dallas could use a strong defensive guard and a rebounding big man to round out their roster.

Curry is set to make $8 million a season. That leaves the Mavericks with north of $20 million in cap space remaining. Expect the team to be active in trying to use those dollars to maximize their roster.
