Dallas Mavericks forward Kostas Antetokounmpo is working hard this offseason to improve his game and earn a more consistent role.

The Dallas Mavericks drafted Kostas Antetokounmpo with the 60th overall pick in the 2018 draft. That name is familiar to NBA fans because of his famous brothers, but Kostas is trying to forge his own path in Dallas.

Antetokounmpo’s rookie season he did not go as he planned. He signed a two-way deal with the Mavs last summer. Kostas played just 11 NBA minutes this year.

He did have success in the G-League, though. Antetokounmpo averaged 10.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.3 blocks per game in 25.4 minutes a night. Below is his G-League highlight video for fans to enjoy.

Kostas has the ability to stand out on the defensive end of the floor. He wants to continue making improvements there. Antetokounmpo’s length and versatility give him the ability to guard multiple positions and be a rim protector.

His offensive game is still a work in progress. Kostas attempted 278 field goals in the G-League this season. 188 of those came within five feet of the basket. He hit 66.0 percent of those tries. Antetokounmpo struggled from every other area on the floor, though.

Kostas is working hard to up his game. Expect Antetokounmpo to play in the Las Vegas Summer League where he can showcase his improvements.

It will be interesting to see if the Mavs keep Kostas on a two-way deal next season. They could convert him into a regular roster spot, but the front office would have to comfortable with him playing a more consistent NBA role next season.
