The Dallas Mavericks are in the midst of an important offseason. They are searching for the perfect plan to execute in free agency. The goal is improving their roster for a playoff run next season.

Adding a third star to pair with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis appears to be the top priority. Marc Stein reports that All-Stars Kemba Walker and Khris Middleton are the Mavs top targets. Middleton is expected to remain with the Bucks making Kemba the Mavericks most likely acquisition.

That pursuit got a bit more complicated when Walker was named third-team All-NBA this season. That made him eligible for a supermax contract with the Hornets. Now, Kemba will have to walk away from five years and $221 million from Charlotte to sign a four-year deal worth $140 million with the Mavs. That is a lot of money to leave on the table.

Kemba Walker is not thinking about his free agency right now, though.

Heading to Japan

Walker is traveling to Japan to be part of a fan event. On May 31, he will attend an NBA Finals viewing party in Tokyo hosted by Rakuten TV. Fans can read more about the event here.

The three-time All-Star is going to make some new fans at the party. It is a fantastic opportunity for him.

This should only boost the Dallas Mavericks interest. Supporters know that the Mavs are always focused on international talents. That allows them to build a global fan base, and international events only improve that stock.
