The Dallas Mavericks may not have won the NBA Draft lottery, but they still have a chance to add a nice role player from the second round. Here are a few players that could be available in the draft and will be at the NBA Draft Combine.

The NBA Draft Combine is coming up over the next couple days and there are reportedly 66 players who have been invited to participate. Here are five guys to keep an eye on that the Dallas Mavericks could potentially target with the 37th overall pick in the draft.

Kyle Guy

I will probably catch flak for this one and I don’t really care because I am sick of the media not giving Kyle Guy the props that he deserves. The winner of the Final Four Most Valuable Player award, and for good reason, has not gotten any sort of respect from the media and it is time that changes.

Sometimes it can be hard to see just how good a player is when he’s surrounded by other great players and maybe that is the case with Guy. With De’Andre Hunter and Ty Jerome both looking like first round picks in the draft, Guy has been overlooked not just as a first round potential pick, but for the draft in its entirety. There are only a small few mock drafts out there that have him being picked at all.

I am a believer that the guys (unintentional pun) who have great March Madness runs deserve to be taken seriously in the draft. I believed it with Derrick Rose, I believed it with Kemba Walker, I believed it with Shabazz Napier (foolishly), I believed it with Jalen Brunson and I believe it now with Kyle Guy.

He is going to have a lot to prove in this combine to show that he belongs in the NBA and that his shot will be ready for the big leagues. He is a proven scorer and defender, but he is coming over as a small two guard that needs some refining to his game. There were times where he disappeared this year and he will have to prove that is not the norm.

The Mavs may not be the best team to reach for him all the way up at 37 unless he shows what he is capable of at the combine. I think people will be pleasantly surprised by him but I also think that Dallas could trade down in the 2nd round to get him if they do like him.
