Dallas Mavericks veteran Devin Harris continues to make his way up the Mavs all-time leaderboards. Find out his current standings.
Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris just wrapped up his 15th professional season. He has played for five different teams including ten seasons with the Mavs.
The 36-year-old is the definition of a veteran. Harris is never afraid to share his wisdom or let his voice be heard. Late in his career, he moved from starter to role player. Harris was an All-Star in 2009. Last season, he averaged 15.8 minutes per game.
Moving up fast
Having a decade in Dallas has allowed Devin Harris to climb the Dallas Mavericks career leaderboards as well. Here is a video from the Mavs official Twitter explaining Harris’ season and place in Mavericks history.
Harris is tied for seventh in games played, but next season he could vault into the top five. He is just 18 games behind Michael Finley for fifth place.
Harris is also 69 3-pointers behind Steve Nash for eighth in Mavs history. He hit 62 this season.
Moving up on the steals list is more difficult as Harris trails Rolando Blackman by 109.
Returning next season?
Devin Harris is no guarantee to be with the Mavericks next season. He enters unrestricted free agent this offseason. Over his 15-year career, Harris has only signed a contract with the Mavs. Expect there to be mutual interest in getting a deal done for the 2019-2020 season.
Final thoughts
Dallas Mavericks veteran guard Devin Harris continues climbing his way up the team’s all-time leaders lists. He should make another push next season if he returns to Dallas.
The Mavericks are facing a plethora of difficult free agency decisions this offseason. The Kristaps Porzingis trade forced them to take on a few undesirable contracts. The Mavs may need to make moves to add cap space before signing free agents. Keep an eye out for that this summer.
