Dallas Mavericks current assistant coach, Jamahl Mosley, is reportedly a candidate for the Cleveland Cavaliers vacant head coaching job. Mosley has been an assistant coach with the Mavs for five years.

Marc Stein of The New York Times, tweeted out yesterday that the Cleveland Cavaliers are in full search mode for their next head coach. In the tweet, he says that the Cavs have interviewed many coaches, including JB Bickerstaff, Alex Jensen (a Jazz assistant coach) and Dallas Mavericks assistant coach, Jamahl Mosley.

Mosley has been an assistant coach with the Mavericks for the past 5 years, starting with the team in 2014. Prior to that, Mosley was an assistant coach with the Cavaliers for four years under head coaches Byron Scott and Mike Brown. Prior to his time with the Cavaliers, he helped out with the Denver Nuggets.

Mosley was considered the defensive coach of the Mavericks this past season, planning the defense for each individual opponent the Mavs went up against. He has also acted as the Mavs summer league coach for the past few years.

The Mavs have had several assistant coaches under Rick Carlisle that have gone on to success. Dwane Casey was the coach of the Toronto Raptors for several years before leaving and joining the Detroit Pistons as head coach this past season.

Terry Stotts was also an assistant coach for Carlisle who now has been coaching the Portland Trail Blazers since 2012. Jason Kidd was a payer under Carlisle and he has had a coaching job with two different NBA teams and looking for a possible third.

We wish nothing but the best for Coach Mosley as he pursues a head coaching job in the league. We know he will do great whether he gets the job or comes back to run the defense for the Mavericks once again.
