Dallas Mavericks see massive TV ratings boost this season

The Dallas Mavericks saw a significant increase in their viewership this season thanks to star rookie Luka Doncic and the legend Dirk Nowitzki.
Dallas Mavericks fans will forever remember the 2018-2019 season. Dirk Nowitzki played his 21st and final year with the Mavs. It was also Luka Doncic first NBA season, and the rookie took the league by storm. There was never a shortage of storylines to follow for the Mavericks this season.
The year did not go as planned, though. Dallas was hoping to make the postseason heading into the season. The Mavs finished with 33 wins and 14th in the stacked Western Conference.
They made two significant trades to improve for the future and build around Doncic going forward, though.

Rating spike
The Dallas Mavericks may not have had the success they envisioned, but fans took notice. According to the Dallas Morning News, the Mavs local and international ratings saw a massive increase this season. Supporters can read more about it here.
Luka and Dirk were likely reasons behind both. Fans wanted to see Doncic because he was the rookie putting up historic numbers. Then, Dirk came back. His retirement was not official until the final home game, but the writing was on the wall for the 40-year-old legend. People tuned in for an exhilarating year of basketball in Dallas.

The Mavs could be the League Pass team to watch next season. The addition of Kristaps Porzingis has fans excited. He and Luka could form the top young duo in the NBA.
The Mavericks also have cap space to spend this summer. Expect them to work diligently to round out their roster into a playoff contender for next season. The front office will have to decide between adding a third star and multiple role players. A difficult decision when building a contender.
Dallas also figures to once again top the NBA in international players rostered. That always provides a ratings boost.
