Dallas Mavericks look for first back-to-back win of season
By Kohl Rast
The Dallas Mavericks have the tough task of going into Oklahoma City to try and steal a win tonight. What will need to happen to get a back to back against them?
If the Dallas Mavericks can pull off another win tonight, they will have done a few things they haven’t been able to do much of this season. For one, they would be taking only their third road win of the season. If the Mavs can figure out how to start winning on the road every once and awhile, things could change quickly.
The other thing the Mavericks could finally do is winning on the 2nd night of a back to back. Dallas has yet to win a single game on the 2nd night of a back to back, often times looking like they are tired. It is understandable to be tired in those kinds of games, but the Mavs need to be ready and conditioned for every game.
Dallas needs to focus on some of the little things tonight. The turnover battle was lost last night despite the Mavs win, but that is not something that is going to happen regularly. Dallas needs to be more careful with the ball tonight and take advantage of the turnovers they get from the other team.
The other thing Dallas needs to do is make their free throws. They have slowly been moving further and further down the free throw list in the league, missing more and more from the charity stripe game after game. If they are going to start winning close games this season, it has to start at the free throw line.
Dallas and OKC tip-off shortly in Oklahoma City. Dallas will have all their starters active again and will try to impose their will early on. Let’s go Mavs!
