Dallas Mavericks sensational rookie Luka Doncic had an incredible defensive play against LeBron James on Nov. 30. Hear what King James had to say about it.
The Dallas Mavericks drafted a franchise-altering player in Luka Doncic this year. The rookie is taking the NBA by storm and continues to be the focal point of the opposition’s game plan.
The Mavericks squared off with the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 30 in LA. It was not a memorable night for the Mavs as a poor second half led to a 114-103 loss on Friday.
Doncic struggled shooting from the field but had a few standout defensive plays. The one that comes to mind first is a help defense on LeBron James that lead to the 19-year-old blocking the MVP twice. See it below courtesy of the Mavericks official Twitter.
King James on Luka
After the game, LeBron discussed that play and more on Doncic in his presser. See what he had to say below courtesy of the Lakers official account.
It is interesting to hear how much respect LeBron has for Doncic. LeBron isn’t charging into a player that he does not see a threat on the opposing team. That is definitely a sign to Mavericks fans that Wonder Boy has made an impression on the league. Expect massive accomplishments from Luka Doncic as he continues to develop his game.
Coach Walton on Luka
Lakers coach Luke Walton had plenty to say about Doncic as well. During his pregame presser, Walton, a ten-year NBA veteran before going into coaching, share this quote about Doncic courtesy of Eddie Sefko.
It did not stop there, though. After the game, Walton discussed more on Doncic which fans can hear here via the Lakers official account.
Final thoughts
It astonishes the impact that Luka Doncic has made in his first 20 NBA games. The Dallas Mavericks have a truly unique talent, and the sky is the limit for the 19-year-old. He legitimately could become a top-ten player in the league over the next few seasons. Enjoy the ride Mavs fans.
