The Hawks won their most recent game after dropping two straight to open the year.  They are having their home opener against the Mavericks on Oct. 24, so expect some pregame festivities before tipoff.

The draft night trade between the two teams created plenty of storylines to follow, so let us take a look at how to watch tonight’s contest between the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks.

Storyline to follow- Luka Doncic vs. Trae Young

These two players will be forever linked because of the draft night trade.  The Hawks moved down and selected Trae Young, while Dallas went up to pick three and chose Luka Doncic.  The Hawks also have the Mavs 2019 first round pick as part of the deal.  Both teams drafted a player they believed in, but now they will forever be compared and contrasted.

Doncic and Young were the two best passers in the 2018 draft class.  Both men have the ability to put on a show with their playmaking ability.

Doncic and Young are promising young 19 years olds facing their first NBA meeting in this game.  It will be entertaining to see who gets the early upper hand.

Do not expect them to be matched up on each other in this game, though.  Young likely guards Dennis Smith Jr.  The Mavericks may want to matchup Wesley Matthews on him when the Hawks have the ball, though.  Doncic will guard Vince Carter, and Atlanta will use either Taurean Prince or Kent Bazemore to defend him.

Final thoughts

The Dallas Mavericks face off against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 24, and now fans know how they can watch that contest.  It should be an exciting game between two teams who are scoring a ton of points and struggling on the defensive end of the floor.   Expect another high scoring affair.

The Hawks are getting back Dewayne Dedmon tonight.  An injured ankle caused him to miss their first three games.  Dedmon will have his hands full guarding DeAndre Jordan this evening.
