Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. shared his thoughts on the team’s new offensive philosophy this season and more news from around the Mavs.
The Dallas Mavericks offense looks a little bit different this season. They have scored over 100 points in all three games thus far including throwing up 140 against the Timberwolves.
The Mavs are leading the NBA in 3-pointers attempted per game at 43.3.
They are also sixth in assists per game with 27.3. The Mavericks were 19th in that stat last season. It all goes back to the team’s emphasis on passing and playing at a faster pace this year. Their pace is up from 96.61 to 101.17. More shots and more ball movement were emphasized during training camp, and it is paying dividends for the team so far.
DSJ on the new offense
Before Monday’s game, starting point guard Dennis Smith Jr. gave some comments on the Mavs improved offense. Check them out courtesy of Dwain Price.
Smith Jr. thinks the Mavericks offense should only improve too. Here is a second quote, thanks to Mister Price.
Dallas could be scary good on the offensive end this season. Keep an eye on the improvements as the season progresses.
