Dallas Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle gave an injury update on Harrison Barnes and plenty more Mavs in this edition of the daily news.

The Dallas Mavericks begin another regular season this evening.  They travel to Phoenix to face the Suns in a battle of top rookies.  Number one overall pick Deandre Ayton will be starting at center for Phoenix and should matchup against new Mav DeAndre Jordan.

With the game fast approaching, we got some injury updates.  Dwight Powell is listed as probable with his knee injury.  Both Harrison Barnes and Dirk Nowitzki remain out.

Coach Carlisle did give an update on Barnes’ hamstring injury, though.  Below is a quote from the Coach courtesy of Dwain Price.

It appears as if he is on track to make his season debut in the home opener on Saturday.  Barnes will likely be a on a minutes limit given that he has not played a live game at all this season.

Having him back should do wonders for the Mavs on both ends of the floor.  Barnes led the team in scoring the last two seasons.  He is also their second best perimeter defender behind Wesley Matthews.  Expect Barnes to fit in quickly and give the Mavericks a massive boost whenever he is healthy enough to return to action.
