The Dallas Mavericks are facing an illness after their return from China.  More on that and Jalen Brunson adjusting to the NBA in today’s morning notes.

The Dallas Mavericks are facing the effects of their long overseas trip to China.  Ryan Broekhoff and Kostas Antetokounmpo missed Thursday’s practice with an illness.  The Mavs were without a few other members of their staff as well.

It is not an ideal situation as Dallas has their final preseason game this evening against the Charlotte Hornets.  The team trimmed its roster to 17 players already.  The Mavericks are also without Dirk Nowitzki and Harrison Barnes because of injury, so they could be quite shorthanded against the Hornets.

Brunson looking to build on strong performance

The Mavs did not have the game against the Sixers on Oct. 8 in hand until the fourth quarter.  It was a tight back-and-forth affair that was ultimately won when all the starters were done playing for the evening (or morning Dallas time).

Mavericks rookie Jalen Brunson had a strong quarter and propelled Dallas to the 115-112 victory.  He scored 11 points on three of six shooting from the field and was the primary ball handler in that stretch run.

Brunson will look to build on that strong game against the Hornets on Friday night.  He could see more run as the Mavericks do not want another injury heading into the regular season.  Keep an eye on Brunson tonight.
