Dallas Mavericks: Devin Harris shuts down the critics of Luka Doncic

Dallas Mavericks veteran Devin Harris sent a message to the critics of rookie Luka Doncic, and it bodes well for Mavs fans this season.

The Dallas Mavericks traded up to draft Luka Doncic with the third overall pick. Experts gushed over his ball handling and playmaking ability at his size. They touted his accomplishments including winning EuroLeague MVP at age 19. It was not all positive reviews, though.

Plenty criticized his athletic ability. They even went as far as to say he would be a draft bust because of it. Doncic has had professional success, but they questioned the translation to the NBA.

Harris silences the critics

Devin Harris has experienced a lot on the basketball court. He was the fifth overall pick in 2004. This year is Harris’ 15th season in the NBA. It is a career that includes an All-Star selection in 2009 and 64 playoff games.

Luka Doncic is a 19-year-old young man who arrived in Dallas on Sept. 4. Less than a month into his stay, he earned the respect of all the Mavericks veterans. NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki gushed about him. Harrison Barnes and J.J. Barea raved about his game. Wes Matthews gave him props. Now, Harris is doing the same. That says a tremendous amount about Doncic’s game and what he brings to this team.

Players are going to love being on the court with Luka. That is exciting as the Mavs look to turn around their fortunes this season.
