The rosters for the third NBA Africa Game have been set today and two players will be playing for Team World as the game has a Team Africa vs. Team World format. This is the third game of its kind in history, with the previous two happening in 2015 and 2017.

The Dallas Mavericks will have two representatives at the 2018 NBA Africa game. This is the 2nd year in a row that Dallas has had multiple representatives at the event. For those who don’t know, the NBA has only had two games ever played on the African continent with active NBA players, with the third one scheduled next month.

In last year’s game, Dirk Nowitzki represented Team World as one of the team captains. He gave a speech before the game in which Team World ended up winning 108-97. The other representative from the Mavs was Salah Mejri, representing Team Africa.

In the first NBA Africa Game in 2015, Team World won 101-97. For that game there were no Mavericks playing, but former Dallas Mavericks Al-Farouq Aminu did represent Team Africa. He will be playing with Team Africa again this year.

Dennis Smith Jr. and Harrison Barnes will both be playing for Team World this year. Here are the two rosters for the games, per NBA.com:

Team Africa: Luol Deng, Ian Mahinmi, Al-Farouq Aminu, Bismack Biyombo, Cheick Diallo, Evan Fournier, Joel Embiid, Serge Ibaka, Pascal Siakam and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

Team World: DeMar DeRozan, John Collins, JaVale McGee, Dennis Smith Jr,. Marvin Williams, Harrison Barnes, Danilo Gallinari, Rudy Gay, Khris Middleton and Hassan Whiteside.

This game is a great way for the NBA to widen their reach and bring the world together more under the game of basketball. The Dallas Mavericks players are all for this goal and it is great to see some of the team members participate in the exhibition game.
