Dallas Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes is once again a member of the USA Basketball Team which is holding camp in Las Vegas this week.

The Dallas Mavericks have plenty of representation at the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Camp taking place this week in Las Vegas.  Forward Harrison Barnes is their only player at the event, but two Mavs staffers are joining him.

Below is a Tweet from Dwain Price showing the three men in their Team USA gear.

Not Barnes first opportunity

Harrison Barnes is not a new member of Team USA.  He was part of the 2016 Olympic Gold Medal winning team in Rio.

Barnes has been a part of their player pool since playing at the junior level in 2010.  Expect the 26-year-old to make a strong push for the World Cup and Olympic teams over the next two years.

No competition this year

USA Basketball is holding their camp from July 26-28, but they are not having a competition or even playing exhibitions this summer.

They are gearing up for the World Cup which takes place in 2019 and the 2020 Olympics.

Year of change for USA Basketball

This year marks with the first with Gregg Popovich as head coach of the team.  He replaces Coach K who was the man in charge from 2005 until the 2016 Olympics.

Some of the NBA superstars are also not attending the camp this year, so it is a chance for younger talents to showcase their skills further.  The pool is down to 35 players already for the next Olympics, and 12 of those will make the trip to Tokyo.

Final thoughts

Harrison Barnes is representing the Dallas Mavericks at the USA Basketball Men’s National Team Camp over the next few days.  Fellow Mavericks joining him are assistant coach Jamahl Mosley and head athletic trainer Casey Smith.

Expect Barnes to make a strong push to take part in the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Olympics.  He has experience on his side and continues to improve his game each year.
