As we have been waiting for more news from the Dallas Mavericks, Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports must have heard our pleas. Although it is not a very sexy deal, the Mavs are bringing back a fan-favorite in Devin Harris. Harris will be inked in to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum.

The silent treatment between Devin Harris, the Dallas Mavericks and Twitter has finally been broken after weeks of speculation and expectations. The result is not surprising and most Mavs fans are excited or at least understanding of the decision to bring back the longtime Maverick, Devin Harris.

Harris is going into his 15th NBA season and, at age 35, will likely be finishing up his career in the near future. Although Harris has lost some of his explosiveness and ability to get to the rim, he still has value as a tough-nosed defender that will hustle every single play he is on the court for Dallas.

The Mavs used Harris as trade bait last year with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. Dallas thought they had a player for their future when they acquired Doug McDermott, but the youngster from Creighton was out to get paid, which is exactly what he did. The trade was a bit of a bust all-around, but Dallas will make it all better be bringing back Devin once again.

Devin started his career with Dallas, being drafted 5th overall in the 2004 NBA Draft out of the University of Wisconsin. He was an immediate rotation player for the team and grew into a solid player under Avery Johnson. He went on to bounce around to New Jersey, Utah, Atlanta and Denver, including a stop at the All-Star game with New Jersey back in 2008-09.

This signing will be good for the Mavs locker room and will be great for the fans of Devin Harris who love seeing him in a Dallas uniform. He may not be a part of the Mavs future, but he is definitely a part of their past and present.
