NBA mock draft 6.0: Final predictions before the draft
By Kohl Rast
The picks become a little bit more murky about here. The Clippers have been rumored to be looking for a center for some time, but it will be really hard to pass on a guy like Lonnie Walker. Walker is a big athletic guard that can hit some shots and can get to the basket. He and Sexton should be able to pair up nicely together with Lou Williams taking back his role as 6th man.
Walker would be a great get for the Clippers who really just need a lot of revitalization on their roster, aside from Tobias Harris.
The Denver Nuggets are going to take a player they really like here, since their positional needs are mostly off the bench. With Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap manning the middle, Robert Williams may not seem like an obvious choice, but his ability to play above the rim is something that those other two guys are not capable of doing.
Williams is an exciting player that can change the course of a game on his good days. He was the catalyst to a Texas A&M squad that beat North Carolina in the tournament and he could be the same catalyst for Denver.
I know Washington isn’t in the lottery but 15 is just a more round number. Plus it gives us the chance to talk about Zhaire Smith, an incredible athlete with a lot of tenacity every time he steps on the court. Washington is in need of some change and could use some more energy on the court, which Smith would bring in spades.
Zhaire Smith needs some work on his offensive game, but his defense and motor will be the main reason to have him on the court regularly. He could become a star.
It is finally here, people. Tune in tonight at 6:00 central time to see the Dallas Mavericks and the rest of the NBA teams make their draft picks for the upcoming season. Let’s go Mavs!
