The horrendous season continues in Dallas as Wesley Matthews is out for the remainder of the year due to a leg injury.

After a loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday, the Dallas Mavericks fell to 21-46 on the regular season.

With 15 games left on the season, Rick Carlisle is continuing to roll out the youngsters in a hope of finding exactly what he has moving forward.

On Monday, Yahoo’s Shams Charania reported that one of the core veterans for the Mavs will be out for the remainder of the season due to an injury.

Matthews signed with he Dallas Mavericks three summers ago with a four-year, $70 million contract. The fourth year of that deal has a player option worth $18.6 million that Matthews will have to decide on this coming summer.

If there was ever any doubt in that, he should pick that up after suffering an injury like this late in the season.

He has particularly grown close with Dennis Smith Jr. this season and served as a big brother, mentor type role for the rookie.
