Dallas Mavericks and Kyle Collinsworth Reportedly Agree to a Deal
By Kohl Rast
The Dallas Mavericks wasted no time filling their final roster spot, reportedly signing Kyle Collinsworth to a three-year deal. Collinsworth has spent the season between the Texas Legends and the Dallas Mavericks.
After the Dallas Mavericks allowed Kyle Collinsworth to finish his 2nd 10-day deal without coming to a contract agreement, it was clear that they were going to wait until the trade deadline to fill out the roster. No one had any idea what direction the team was going to go with trades, so it was all up in the air.
Despite the lack of knowledge on what was going to happen, many believed that Collinsworth would be back with the Mavs. However, mopst probably did not envision a three-year deal in the making. This just goes to show you how high the Mavs organization is on the former Brigham Young University star.
This news comes on the back of the trade that sent Devin Harris to Denver in return for Doug McDermott. Losing Harris is hard, but it appears that Collinsworth is going to benefit from more playing time because of it. Collinsworth has put together a great season with the Texas Legends and now should get to see the court even more in Dallas.
The terms of the contract are unclear for now, but Collinsworth fills out the last roster spot for the Dallas Mavericks this season. This is a bit surprising considering the number of players that generally get bought out shortly after the trade deadline. Although the Mavs are far from a hot destination for those free agents, it is still a bit surprising.
This again shows just how high the Mavericks organization is on Collinsworth.
