Seth Curry and Salah Mejri for Jae Crowder and a 2nd Round Pick

This would be a pretty interesting trade if it did happen, but not as crazy as it would seem. The Cavs are looking for players who can positively impact the team, and both Curry and Mejri can do that. Although Curry is injured and Mejri is often a head case, they are both effective players while on the court.

This trade would, of course, hinge on the idea that Seth Curry will be back before the end of the season. Curry is an effective scorer from all over the court and would be instant offense off the bench for the Cavs. They would lose Crowder, who has been disappointing, and a 2nd round pick in return for two flyers that could be very useful.

One reason the Mavs would not do this trade is because they see the value in Seth Curry. Dallas and their fans all like Curry and would like to see him back in a Mavs uniform, but if the Mavs are thinking about not matching potential offers for Curry this summer, then might as well get something out of him now.

One reason the Cavs would not do this trade is because they see Curry as an injured player and Mejri as a head case. Salah can be great above the rim but terrible when he opens his mouth, while Curry is an excellent player that could be gone this summer. Just depends on how much they value Crowder’s awful play and a 2nd rounder that will likely amount to nothing.

It is clear that there are options that the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers could explore, but much of it hinges on what direction Cleveland wants to go with the next few days. The Mavs will be ready to answer the call, but will they pull the trigger?
