As Seth Curry continues to sit out the 2017-18 NBA season, worry is starting to grow among the fan base on if he will play this season at all.
Back in October, the Dallas Mavericks sent out a press release announcing that Seth Curry would be out with a “stress reaction” in his leg and that he would be re-evaluated weekly.
Now, just a few days until February, Curry has yet to see the court.
In what seems to be a reoccurring theme a couple of times a month, Rick Carlisle is asked about the status of Curry and when we could expect him back on the court. Sometimes, Carlisle has tried to put a timetable on it while other times he gave vague answers.
Before the Trail Blazers game on Friday night, I asked Carlisle for not just an update, but if there is a possibility we won’t see Curry at all this season.

“I believe that he will play in 2018,” Carlisle said in response to my question and then stared into my soul for a deep pause.
This was obviously a clever answer as 2018 could mean this season or the beginning of next season. He then kept going with his answer.
“I don’t know when. There is really no update other than he continues to make gradual progress and we will see,” Carlisle said. “I certainly don’t see anything before the All-Star break at this point. That is another two weeks or so and then a good week of break. Coming off of that, we will see.”
NBA All-Star weekend is February 16-18th in Los Angeles. The Mavericks play the Kings at home on the 13th and don’t have another game until the 23rd against the Lakers.
Curry is set to be an unrestricted free agency this summer.
