Nike officially announced the fourth, and final, iteration of their line of jerseys that each NBA team will have in its repertoire for seasons to come. The “City” Edition is a reflection of each team’s local area, with most of them offering some stark differences from the three previously released jerseys.

For Mavericks fans, there is a completely new jersey design to talk about. The three previously released jerseys, Association, Icon, and Statement were nothing drastically different from what the Mavericks have been wearing the past few seasons. This time around, the design is brand new and a standout among the other three.

Nike officially released its “City” Edition jerseys Dec. 27, and here is what Dallas will be sporting going forward.

In an official press release, Nike said this of the Mavericks’ City Edition jersey:

"Only in Dallas will you feel the energy the downtown skyline brings to its Dallasites.  Marked by the neon glow on the letters, numbers and piping, the new Mavs City Edition Jersey reflects the swagger of the Big D and the vibrancy of Dallas nights."

To some, this might seem as an unexpected twist as Dallas has usually stayed pretty conservative with its jersey designs, except for that metallic grey jersey we all like to forget. However, the piping of the lines seem to resemble the colors of the Seattle Seahawks color scheme, which utilizes neon colors for the Nike Color Rush jerseys worn on Thursday Night Football games.

The decision to go with a black jersey instead of another shade of blue is a welcome addition to the Mavericks’ color scheme. The contrast of the neon green and bright blue against the black works well, and the decision to put “DAL” on the front keeps this design very sleek and simple.
