Dennis Smith Jr.

“It’s a toss up between Barnes and Dennis Smith. Barnes’ midrange predicated game isn’t conducive to huge scoring nights, although his aggressiveness in getting to the line this year helps the cause. If Carlisle loosened the leash on Smith and gave him the green light on a hot shooting night, 40 wouldn’t be out of the picture.” –Paul Wang

“My money is on the rookie simply because he has shown how dangerous he can be on multiple occasions so far this season. He is still trying to show his abilities of being a team player and has been slow to fully take the reins at any point so far this season. It won’t be long before the rest of the Mavs players are giving him the iso option and he delivers. 40 points will be very much within reach for the youngster.” –Kohl Rast

Seth Curry

“Curry still hasn’t seen time on the court yet this season due to a stress fracture in his leg. This has had a profound impact on the Mavs offense that was already short on offensive playmakers. Curry’s return may reignite a few schemes and play calls from Rick Carlisle, who is still trying to figure out his offensive philosophy with this team.” –Evan Siegel

Dirk Nowitzki

“This answer very well may be Harrison Barnes but I want one last Dirk 40 pointer so bad. Until he hangs it up, I’ll always believe he is capable of it.” –Sean Bush

The Mavs don’t have a lot of players that can score big points on any given night, but there are many that can catch fire at random. For that reason, we feel confident that the Mavericks will have at least one 40-point game this year.
