Ranking the NBA Rookies After the First Month
By Kohl Rast
Markelle Fultz
For obvious reasons, Markelle Fultz did not make the top 10 rookies in the NBA this season. He has been injured for most of the season so far and Philly will have to be patient with him. They are pretty good at that though.
Fultz stats: 6.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.8 apg
Jonathan Isaac
Jonathan Isaac, on the other hand, was viewed as kind of the best project in the draft this year. Isaac had a mostly irrelevant freshman year at Florida State, but everyone knew his name. This looks to be a similar trend in his first year with the Magic, however his build and athleticism should pan out into a great NBA talent in the near future.
Isaac stats: 5.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.1 bpg
Jarrett Allen
Jarrett Allen has been held back by some injuries early on as well, but has not really broken through as a contributor for the Brooklyn Nets just yet. Brooklyn could use him in the middle though. Give him a little longer to get comfortable.
Allen stats: 4.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.0 bpg
Honorable Mention
Justin Jackson
Justin Jackson has had a few decent games this season, and has cracked the Sacramento Kings starting rotation for a majority of his games. He has not quite capitalized on his opportunity yet though, and remains just on the outside of the top 10.
Jackson stats: 5.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, .474 FG%
T.J. Leaf
T.J. Leaf was expected to be an instantly noticeable contributor to the Indiana Pacers and has been used frequently by the team, averaging 15 minutes per game so far. He may not be contributing majorly in statistics yet, but he has made his presence known on the court.
Leaf stats: 6.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, .488 FG%
Frank Ntilikina
Frank Ntilikina took awhile to get on the court for the Knicks, but showed instant signs of promise in the steals and assists departments. He should be improving slowly as he gets used to the pace of the NBA.
