When the Dallas Mavericks are able to welcome Seth Curry back to the court, it will likely result in a standing ovation. Curry’s sharpshooting will be a great compliment to Dennis Smith Jr. and the Mavs will quickly become a new team.

Whether fans are excited about the potential end result or not, losing is never fun. The Dallas Mavericks showed us that last year after Mavs fans had been so used to 50-win seasons over and over. Despite the reward of Dennis Smith Jr., the games were difficult to watch a lot of the time last year.

One bright spot on the team was Seth Curry. Curry gave the Mavericks a big time spark with his big leap in shooting and his ability to create his own shot. That is something the Mavericks could really use right about now. Dennis Smith Jr. has been looking for a go-to drive-and-kick option as well. Seth Curry will step into that role very nicely.

In the final game of the preseason, Seth Curry had what was deemed a stress reaction in his tibia. With most fans not really knowing what that is, we didn’t know how long to expect the team to be without Curry. Now in the 2nd week of the season, Dallas is still talking like Curry will be back soon, something that is a very welcome thought.

Although Yogi Ferrell has filled in admirably in the starting lineup (yet again), he is just not the same caliber of player that Curry is. Add in the fact that this is a contract year for the little Curry brother and this season becomes even more important for both him and the Mavericks.

The Mavs fans who are still hopeful this season (I am hoping a vast majority of y’all) are impatiently waiting to have Seth Curry back, but know things are going to change for the better when he is healthy. It is just a waiting game for now, but Curry can expect a standing ovation when he knocks down his first three of the season.

Dallas is going to need to make do without Curry for now, something the team has struggled with thus far. We still have a chance to win plenty of games this season, but the team is going to need to start working together. Stay optimistic.
