The National Basketball Players Association announced their annual Teammate of the Year Awards for each franchise, including the Dallas Mavericks.

Each year, the National Basketball Players Association puts on their own awards for the most recent NBA season where players from around the league vote on each of the unique awards.

Awards such as Best Dressed, Most Influential Veteran, and others are voted on by solely players and announced via Twitter on Friday.

The only award given out to each team, the Teammate of the Year Award, was announced and the player for the Dallas Mavericks should come to no surprise considering the character and type of teammate he is.

In Harrison Barnes’ first season in Dallas, he wins the award. Even though Dirk Nowitzki is the ultimate teammate and loved by everyone in the organization, Barnes winning the award gives you a look into how the team views Barnes as a teammate off the court.

Some other notable award winners.

Best Dressed – Russell Westbrook

Most Influential Veteran – Vince Carter

Best Social Media Follow – Joel Embiid

Coach You’d Most Like to Play For – Gregg Popovich

One of the biggest awards is always the Most Valuable Player Award as it’s obviously voted on by the players and not the media.

Two years ago, the media notably voted Stephen Curry as the Most Valuable Player of the Year, but the players had a different opinion as they voted James Harden as the Most Valuable Player of the Year.

This year, it was the same on both ends as both the players and media voted Russell Westbrook as the MVP of the league.
