NBA Offseason Awards For Western Conference

Worst NBA Free Agency: San Antonio Spurs
I can’t believe I am writing something criticizing the Spurs, but I believe they had a horrific free agency.
First off, the playoffs made it clear that Kawhi Leonard isn’t enough to even make a dent on the Golden State Warriors and LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t the player he used to be. They needed another star and Chris Paul looked to be their target.
They obviously lost Paul to the Rockets and were left paying Patty Mills to be their starting point guard.
Getting the older Pau Gasol to opt out was remarkable, but then they turned around and handed the 37-year-old a three-year, $48 million deal. They also lost Dewayne Dedmon and Jonathon Simmons in free agency, two players that averaged a combined 34 minutes a night.
Their biggest offseason addition was the 30-year-old Rudy Gay who is coming off an Achilles injury.
The Spurs are still a playoff team, but they aren’t in that top-tier of the Western Conference anymore.
