NBA Trade Deadline: Dallas Mavericks to Add Nerlens Noel
By Kohl Rast
In breaking NBA Trade news, the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to add Nerlens Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut and the Mavericks 1st Round Pick.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in just about every trade rumor you could think of so far this week and now, after days and days of surfing through Twitter, we get a big Woj bomb hours before the deadline reaches.
This news comes as a bit of a shock as the Mavericks were reportedly seeking to add 1st Round picks this trade deadline and now, the team is without a pick once more. Also interesting, the Mavericks had not once mentioned Justin Anderson in a trade rumor, but the young player from the University of Virginia was definitely not pulling his weight.
The deal first showed just Simba and a first-rounder but was later stated to include Andrew Bogut.
It appears that the Dallas Mavericks 1st Rounder should be lottery protected as well. If Nerlens Noel does not make the big leap for Dallas, we may be able to hold on to the pick this year.
The Dallas Mavericks are adding a young, athletic big man that has incredible potential in this league. At 22 years old, Noel is still just a very young, unproven player, but the Mavs don’t make moves for unproven talent. Expect Rick Carlisle and Mark Cuban to know something that we don’t in this situation.
Also, keep in mind that Dallas gave up an injured center, an under-performing wing, and a late 1st round pick for a guy that could easily be the center of the future for Dallas. Give the Mavs time to prove this one before we go head hunting.
