After the overtime loss to the Utah Jazz, Dirk Nowitzki took a question about his memories of President Obama and he reflected on his personal time with him.
On a second night of a back-to-back, the Dallas Mavericks had an overtime thriller where they came out on the losing end to the Utah Jazz. For Dirk Nowitzki, he went head-to-head with Rudy Gobert where he logged 25 minutes after logging close to 30 minutes the night before in Miami.
Nowitzki finished the night shooting 1-13 from the field and only three points on the night.
After the game, at his locker, he obviously talked about his rough night shooting, but also took a question at the end in regards to his memories of the departing President Obama.
"“I was fortunate to meet the President a couple of times. The visit to the White House obviously was unbelievable for us after the championship. We deserved it.” Nowitzki said. “He was really nice, we got to talk to him a little bit, he was funny, great aura about him, that was a great day for all the players and all the staff that got to go. That is obviously a day that me, the rest of the guys will never forget the rest of our lives.”"
Nowitzki is obviously talking about the Dallas Mavericks trip to the White House after their 2011 title run where they beat the Miami Heat in the NBA championship.

When asked what he and former President Obama talked about, Dirk had another classic one-liner…
“We talked sports obviously, it’s not like we talked foreign affairs,” Nowitzki joked. “We talked sports and kept it light. He knows sports, he’s funny, charming.”
That brought the only smiles in that locker room tonight, but Nowitzki went on to mention the second time he spent time with President Obama over in Germany.
“I was able to meet him again afterwards, there was a dinner in Germany with the Chancellor. I was invited to that. Got to spend some time with him there and was actually sitting at the same table with him. Yeah, I was fortunate.”
