The Dallas Mavericks are on their way to an interesting season which could result in a wide range of finishes in the West. First, they have to win a game though.

After an 0-3 start, the Dallas Mavericks are desperate for a win. The Mavs have had two really solid games that could have gone either way, and one that could have been worse than it ended up.

That’s not to say the Mavericks are playing well though. The offense has struggled, the defense is on their heels after playing two of the fastest paced teams in the league, and Dirk Nowitzki has been out for two games without a timetable on his return.

Each game seems a little more hopeful, but Dallas has been notorious for not being able to put together a full game the last few seasons. That could really hurt them this year as they are working with a new team and a new style of team while trying to figure out how to wrk the old guys in the lineup.

With that understanding, when are the Dallas Mavericks going to win a game?

The next five games for the Mavericks are: @Utah, vs. Portland, vs. Milwaukee, @ LA Lakers, and @ Golden State. The Utah Jazz are 1-2 and an opponent Dallas has historically been good against. But, with Dirk still possibly out, the Jazz may have the advantage, especially playing in Salt Lake City.

After the Jazz, the Blazers are a team that really could be detrimental for Dallas morale. If the Mavs started the season 0-5, people will start to become skeptical to the point of questioning the point of not tanking.

This would be bad for the Mavs because they can’t tank while Dirk is still active on the team. The roster is better than it has looked and if we can put it together, could be dangerous. But, it has to come together soon.

After Portland, the Mavs may get a confidence boost. Milwaukee is 1-2 and a better matchup overall for the Mavericks. If nothing else, this should be a win for Dallas undoubtedly.

Then the matchup with the Lakers comes around and there should be no excuse for a Mavs loss. The Lakers are getting progressively better and could play a great game, but the Mavs know they need to win the winnable games at this point. LA is a winnable game.

After that we have Golden State which is possible but unlikely. We just need to get it figured out before then.

Next: Trick or Treat: Which Will the Mavs Season Be?

The Dallas Mavericks have a few shots to get the fans back on board and ready for a full season, but it needs to happen soon. If the Mavs can pull out a win over the Jazz, everyone will settle down, but a loss their and an 0-5 start is something we need to avoid any way possible.
