The Dallas Mavericks Finalize Their 15-Man Roster

With the regular season around the corner, the Dallas Mavericks finally finalized their 15 man roster over the weekend.

The Dallas Mavericks had an eventful offseason once again over the summer as they swung for the fences in free agency once more. After striking out once again, Dallas notably rebounded with Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut to surround Dirk Nowitzki.

So with Nowitzki, Barnes, and Bogut locked into the final roster, who else is filling out the roster?

In the backcourt, we all knew Deron Williams, J.J. Barea, Devin Harris and newcomer Seth Curry was locked into the final 15. On the wing, it’s Wesley Matthews and Justin Anderson joining Barnes.

Up front, it’s Dwight Powell, newcomer Quincy Acy, and Salah Mejri joining Bogut and Nowitzki.

This left three spots that many have speculated since Training Camp started a few weeks ago. The Mavericks finalized those last three spots via press release on Saturday.

A.J. Hammons was the Mavericks second round pick this past summer as the talented big man out of Purdue proved in training camp he is worthy of a project. Although he struggled at times keeping up and on the inside, Hammons proved with his sweet shooting stroke that he was worthy of a final roster spot.

Arguably the talk of camp and the preseason for the Mavs was the kid from Argentina, Nicolas Brussino. Brussino took the fan base by storm with his sweet shooting stroke from the outside and continuous praise from the coaching staff.

Dallas has been helping the youngster learn English and look to help develop him as a player was the 23-year old made the final roster.

In my opinion, the last spot was up for grabs between Jonathan Gibson and Dorian Finney-Smith. Gibson is the fast, scoring point guard while Finney-Smith is the linky, defending wing that is taking over the league.

Gibson might have been loved by Mark Cuban, but it is Finney-Smith that has grabbed the final roster spot. Finney-Smith will probably look to spend time in the D-League as he continues to develop his outside shot and offensive game.

With the roster being finalized, the Mavericks officially announced the waiving of Gibson, Kyle Collinsworth, Keith Hornsby, C.J. Williams, and Jaleel Cousins.
