REPORT: Mavs & Rajon Rondo Heading For Summer Reunion
By Isaac Harris
With Rajon Rondo set to hit free agency this coming summer, recent news out of Dallas is pointing towards a potential reunion with the ex-Dallas Maverick.
Back last year, the Dallas Mavericks made an early December trade for the star guard from Boston in exchange for most notably Jae Crowder and the Mavs 2016 first round draft pick. Rondo joined the Mavericks in hopes of helping Dallas make a deep postseason run by helping solidify the defense in the backcourt alongside Monta Ellis.
The marriage didn’t go exactly as planned as there were tensions throughout the team and with head coach Rick Carlisle. Rondo had an undisclosed “back injury” that kept him out of end of the Houston Rockets first round playoff series. Rondo walked for nothing over the summer to sign with the Sacramento Kings on a one year deal.
Now Rondo hits free agency this coming summer again and the Mavs might come calling.
Starting point guard Deron Williams could opt out this summer and become an unrestricted free agent thus opening up a starting spot for the veteran guard. Then there were reports coming out of Dallas of Carlisle and Rondo hanging out during all-star weekend.

Sources say that Rondo spent the extended weekend in Dallas staying at Carlisle’s resident. They are said to have spent multiple hours playing Connect Four and reminiscing about his time in Dallas. They then went to eat out at Perry’s Steakhouse that night to enjoy a meal together and “supposedly” discuss a potential reunion.
Rondo then spent his last day of all-star weekend spending time in Dallas’ biggest city park, Klyde Warren Park, hanging out with fans and signing memorabilia from his successful time in Dallas.
We can only hope that these sources are reliable and the stories are true as a Rondo reunion in Dallas would be something we would all dream about.
Ok, that was painful enough to write. I can’t write anymore. Happy April Fools’ Day!
