The rumors around Dwight Howard have once again started back up as it is being reported that Houston is taking offers for the center. Will the Dallas Mavericks come calling?

Over the past couple of months rumors around Dwight Howard has circulated as the Houston Rockets continue to underperform this season. With Howard most likely to opt-out of his contract at the end of the season to become a free agent, Houston now has a decision to be made.

Will Houston keep Howard past the deadline and either sign him to max money in the offseason or let him walk for nothing? Does his injured past make Houston hesitant on giving him that much long-term money?

Will Houston decide to trade the former all-star to get a package worthwhile in return? Will they try to shed his contract to have more money to chase Kevin Durant?

At this point, Yahoo is reporting that Houston is leaning towards the latter as they have begun contacting teams about potential Howard trades.

So should the Dallas Mavericks come calling?

Ever since the news broke about Houston contacting teams, rumors have circled around how interested Dallas should be. Mavs fans twitter accounts, blogs, another social media has been full of debates around the possibility of Dallas getting involved in the talks.

Whether you like the idea of Howard in a Mavs jersey or not, the idea of trading for whims quite simple: it would be almost impossible to make salaries to work unless Dallas included Chandler Parsons or Wesley Matthews in the deal.

More from The Smoking Cuban

Cuban has been pretty vocal about Parsons and Matthews being cornerstones in Dallas for years to come and I think we all would agree that it would be a shocking surprise if one of them were dealt.

So that leaves Dallas out of the Howard trade sweepstakes. So just stop it. Stop trying to entertain it…..for now at least.

With that being said, when Howard opts-out and hits free agency this offseason, the Dallas Mavericks will come calling. I would be surprised if Dallas offered max money, but for the right price this summer, Howard could become intriguing.
