Poll: DeAndre Jordan or LaMarcus Aldridge?

Better for Mavericks – DeAndre Jordan or LaMarcus Aldridge?

The Dallas Mavericks are poised to make some noise in free agency come July 1st. They’ve got their sights on some marquee players, most notably Texas natives DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers and LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trailblazers.

Dallas hasn’t had the best of luck with big name unrestricted free agents in the past, but it sounds like they have as good a shot as anyone in the league at acquiring either one.

Jordan will meet with the Mavericks when the free agency period begins, and rumor has it the Clippers are most fearful of Mark Cuban and head recruiter Chandler Parsons when it comes to teams looking to pry their 26-year old defensive stalwart from their grips.

Aldridge, like Jordan, will meet with franchises generally regarded as top free agent destinations. It’s been reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are shooting up his list of preferred destinations, but the four-time all-star is also open to returning to his hometown and carrying on the legacy at the power forward position that Dirk Nowitzki has established in his 17-year career.

With Monta Ellis opting out of the final year of his contract with the Mavericks, it’s actually feasible that Dallas could get both Aldridge and Jordan and move Nowitzki to the bench to serve as the team’s Sixth Man. That probably isn’t in the best interest of the franchise though. Having your best four players manning the front court in a guard oriented league doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

It’s also a long shot anyways.

So if it comes down to one or the other, who would be your choice? Aldridge, the 20 and 10 machine just turning 30-years old? Or Jordan, the league’s best rebounder that has yet to reach his peak as a player?
