ESPN Suggests a Carmelo Anthony-Chandler Parsons Trade
By Isaac Harris
It’s NBA Trade Deadline week and rumors are starting to swirl, one of the biggest sports sites in the business is suggesting a blockbuster Dallas Mavericks trade centered around Carmelo Anthony and Chandler Parsons.
Rumors flying around New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony have been swirling around for quite sometime as he presents a huge cap number for a somewhat rebuilding Knicks team. Even if the Knicks try to entertain the market for Anthony, a no trade clause by Anthony would prevent any trade from happening without his approval.
ESPN took to the Anthony rumors today as they presented a piece centered around “Ten Big Trades We’d Like to See Before the Deadline.” Of the ten trades, three of them had to do with Carmelo Anthony switching teams. One of them centered around Anthony making his way to Dallas to team up with Dirk Nowitzki.
Here is the framework of the deal…
Dallas Receives: Carmelo Anthony
New York Receives: Chandler Parsons, Raymond Felton, Dwight Powell, and future picks
David Thorpe’s explanation for the deal was as follows:
“Seeing Carmelo in the playoffs is just something the basketball gods would want. Seeing him under master guru Rick Carlisle would be even more special. If anyone can best utilize his still-considerable skill set, it’s Carlisle and the Mavs.
Parsons would be a good fit with the Knicks’ style of play and the bright lights of New York. The draft picks could be very valuable, Powell has the potential to be a solid player and the cap space the Knicks would gain in this trade would make them strong contenders to bring in elite talent.”

Most rumored trades centered around the Mavericks have yet to include Chandler Parsons or Wesley Matthews, but this would be interesting on different levels.
Would Dallas be ok with taking on Anthony’s contract? How would an Anthony-Nowitzki duo work on the offensive end? Would Carmelo even ‘ok’ a trade to Dallas? Would La La?
If the ESPN suggested trade did happen, Dallas would be looking at a Williams-Matthews-Anthony-Nowitzki-Pachulia starting unit come the playoffs. The second unit would need a healthy Devin Harris and possibly some increased play for Jeremy Evans at the four spot.
Next: An Al Horford Blockbuster
Rumors and suggestions will continue to fly over the next couple of days as the Dallas Mavericks will have to decide on which direction they will go during this last push of the season.
