With our latest Dallas Mavericks podcast on iTunes, we discussed the legend of Dirk Nowitzki and where he stands among the greatest players of all-time.

After taking a week off through the holidays, we here at The Smoking Cuban was back at it this past week as we hit on a numerous topics over the past two weeks.

As we always breakdown the past couple of Mavs games, we highlighted the big win over the Golden State Warriors in detail. A win that still was impressive despite the Warriors being without Stephen Curry.

Despite handing the Warriors their second loss of the season, it was the game against the Brooklyn Nets that was the biggest game through the holidays. It was in Brooklyn, that we all witnessed Dirk Nowitzki pass Shaquille O’Neal to become the 6th all-time leading scorer in NBA history.

Throughout this section, Jay, myself, and Kohl each discuss where we would rank Dirk among the greatest players of all-time. Is he a top 10 player? Top 15? or is it an overreaction and he isn’t in the conversation?

Switching gears away from Dirk, we focused on what we would do to change up the rotation if we were in Carlisle’s shoes. Coming off two straight losses, is there any rotation changes that we think could help shake things up?

In the latter portion of the podcast, we each threw out a potential trade that would make sense for the Mavs and opposing teams. Names such as P.J. Tucker, Shaun Livingston, Kevin Martin, and many other names were thrown around. One trade even featured a potential all-star who could be dealt come the trade deadline.
