The Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, are looking forward to their 2022-2023 season after winning their first-ever playoff game in franchise history last season. It was a fantastic postseason run and Frisco fans can’t wait to pack the Comerica Center once again this season to see their team in action.

The Legends have been busy this summer, so let me update you all on what has been going on over in Frisco.

Texas Legends acquire Kaleb Wesson from the Memphis Hustle

Recently, the Legends acquired the rights to Kaleb Wesson and a 2022 1st round pick in the G League draft for Guard Dakota Mathias and a 2022 1st round pick from the St Cruz Warriors. Wesson averaged 11.2 points 9.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 11 games with the Warriors last season.

Mathias joined the Legends for a brief stint before getting injured in the Spring. He just recently signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Memphis Grizzlies shortly after the trade.

Texas Legends losing Carlik Jones

This one could be a shock to fans when they return to the Comerica Center in October. Carlik Jones joined the Chicago Bulls for the Las Vegas Summer League and signed a training camp deal shortly after.

There’s a good chance if he doesn't make the Bulls' regular season roster, he will be a Windy City Bull. Jones was the heart of the Legends last season and one of the big reasons we made the playoffs.

In my opinion, when the Mavericks drafted Jaden Hardy, they knew they were going to lose Carlik Jones to another team. I wish him all the best over in Chicago and hopefully, he crosses paths with the Mavericks again in the future.

Tyler Dorsey signs a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks signed euro star guard Tyler Dorsey to a two-way contract. While playing with the Greek club Olympiacos, Dorsey averaged 10.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Dorsey will probably end up starting the season with the Texas Legends this fall, and fans should be excited to see him play down in Frisco.

Dorsey played five games in the G League during the 2018-2019 season where he averaged 26.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. The 6'3 guard could be a game-changer for the Legends this season whenever he is down in Frisco.

George Galanopoulos is returning for the 2022-23 season

The last thing that happened over the summer was that the Legends announced that George Galanopoulos will return as head coach in 2022. His current overall record with the Legends is 51-40 over the last three seasons. He deserves to continue being the head coach of the Legends after getting them to the playoffs last season and winning in the first round.
