What teams have zero chance of getting the top pick in 2023 if the NBA Draft Lottery is rigged?

There are multiple candidates to secure the top pick and land Victor Wembanyama if the league is fixing it, but some of them have zero chance for a myriad of reasons.

Here is a breakdown of the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery from highest to lowest odds of getting the number one overall pick.

1. Detroit Pistons- 14 percent

2. Houston Rockets- 14 percent

3. San Antonio Spurs- 14 percent

4. Charlotte Hornets- 12.5 percent

5. Portland Trail Blazers- 10.5 percent

6. Orlando Magic- 9.0 percent

7. Indiana Pacers- 6.8 percent

8. Washington Wizards- 6.7 percent

9. Utah Jazz- 4.5 percent

10. Dallas Mavericks- 3.0 percent

11. Chicago Bulls- 1.8 percent

12. Oklahoma City Thunder- 1.7 percent

13. Toronto Raptors- 1.0 percent

14. New Orleans Pelicans- 0.5 percent

If the lottery is rigged, there is no way the NBA would want Victor Wembanyama on the Pacers, Wizards, Jazz, or Hornets. Those teams are all in small markets or stuck in the early stages of rebuilds.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors feel like just too long of odds to win. That leaves eight teams that should be under consideration in the sweepstakes.

The Magic have an exciting young core, but they would likely be the next cut because of their frontcourt depth. Chicago is a massive market, but their current roster is not good enough. Detroit is also loaded with frontcourt talent, which leaves a strong top five in the hunt for the 7’5 Unicorn. What would the Mavs' odds be if it is rigged?
