Pass or pursue on recent Dallas Mavericks trade idea: 1. Upgrade with Turner

There is a lot of layers to this deal. The Mavs need to improve at the five and would love to do it with another player that can space the floor and knock down threes. Myles Turner is from Dallas, and Hoops Habit cooked up a deal to bring him to the Mavericks.

The deal as constructed is not currently possible because the Mavericks cannot deal their 2024 first-round pick, but let us assume that slides into the first available selection they can move to make this deal a no-brainer.

Verdict: Pursue

Former Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is now in charge of the Pacers, and he loves Dwight Powell’s energy and effort on the floor. Carlisle would also reunite with 2020 first-round pick and add a quality rotation piece in Sterling Brown. There is no way this is enough for Turner as another team has to be offering more for one of the best shot blockers in the league.

The Dallas Mavericks should explore acquiring Myles Turner because Indiana is off to a slow start and there have been fit questions for years. Adding a floor-spacing big man that can protect the rim would do wonders for the Mavs during the regular season.

dark. Next. Who would the Mavs start if they bench Dwight Powell?

Fans should expect new general manager Nico Harrison and his staff to be exploring all the options ahead of the trade deadline. Will the Mavericks upgrade their roster? Stay tuned to find out.
