The Dallas Mavericks got off to a slow start. They were 16-18 on Dec. 29 and looked like they would be battling for a spot in the play-in tournament. Superstar Luka Doncic did not enter the year in tiptop shape, and his team was struggling to hit shots under a new head coach. Doncic missed ten games in December and everything turned around when he came back.
Luka was arguably the best player in the league as the Mavericks had the second-best record in the NBA from Jan. 1 to the end of the regular season. He suffered a calf injury in the regular-season finale, but Doncic only missed three games. When he returned he was dominant as Dallas reached the conference finals. It was a surprising and impressive run by the Mavericks, but it is only the beginning.
Doncic has a busy summer ahead as he plans to play in two different competitions for the Slovenian National Team. The 23-year-old superstar also wants to enter training camp ready to dominate, and he is wasting no time this offseason.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is already putting in work this offseason
The Mavs were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors on May 26, and exactly two weeks later, Doncic posted a workout video to his Instagram story. The Slovenian National Team practices begin on June 15. Doncic could have taken a bit more time off, but he did not. He knows how important this summer is for himself and the Mavericks, and Luka is not wasting one second.
Fans can watch Luka Doncic in action for the Slovenian National Teams on June 30 as they host Croatia in their first of two World Cup qualifiers. The Dallas Mavericks superstar also plans to play in EuroBasket in September before joining his NBA team for training camp. It will be a busy summer featuring a lot of work, and Mavs fans can stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest.
