Star player Luka Doncic should be recruiting right now: 3. Bradley Beal
Beal just signed a five-year $251 million extension with the Wizards that begins this season. The 6’4 guard has been loyal to Washington, including stating on several occasions that he wants to play his entire career there, but at what point do the Wizards blow it up?
They have made the playoffs just once in the last four years, and they have not reached the conference finals since 1979. Former Mavericks head coach Dick Motta led the Wizards to a championship and back-to-back NBA Finals in 1978 and 1979, but that was four decades ago.
Beal is only 29 years old, and he is one of the best scorers in the league. The three-time All-Star played with a prime John Wall early in his career where he shot north of 40 percent from 3-point range every year. Imagine Beal playing next to Luka Doncic. Defenses would have nightmares about guarding them.
Beal’s defense would pick up on a winning team that asked him to do less offensively, and acquiring him would make the Dallas Mavericks instant title contenders. The 6’4 guard could be the team’s secondary ball-handler, and he gives Dallas an elite shooter that can drop 30 points per game next to Luka Doncic, who is one of the league’s best passer and 3-point shot creators on the planet. Talk about a dynamic duo.
